Faculty in Practice
Faculty in Arts & Humanities are deeply committed to introducing students to the extraordinary range of expertise and learning at UChicago, and to leading each generation of students towards deep and lifelong engagement with the study and creation of human culture. From the discussion-based seminar format of the College Core, to intensive, practice-based workshop and studio courses in Creative Writing, Visual Arts, Theater and Performance Studies, Music Composition, and Visual Arts, to innovative cross-disciplinary approaches in Cognitive Science, the Arts & Humanities Division embodies the spirit of rigorous inquiry at the center of University of Chicago’s distinctive culture.
The Division is home to numerous faculty who have received the University’s Quantrell Award for undergraduate teaching and the Faculty Award for PhD Teaching and Mentoring. The Division has further recognized its own outstanding teaching via the Sze and Mueller Awards.
