Women's Ensemble

The 40-50 member Women’s Ensemble is a select ensemble of undergraduate, graduate, and recent alumnae of the University of Chicago. The group explores classical repertoire from the Medieval era up through the present day, music from polyphonic singing traditions across the world, and selections from a variety of American genres. Through its diverse repertoire, the Women’s Ensemble strives to give singers the chance to discover, explore, and promote the power of women's voices.
Vocal Studies Program

The Vocal Studies Program, open by audition to undergraduate and graduate students at the University, provides structured, formal study and performance opportunities for singers’ musical growth and involvement in Department-sponsored musical events, both through solo lessons and performance opportunities and in support of the four major choral ensembles.
University Chorus
Mollie Stone, director
The University Chorus is the largest vocal ensemble on campus. Among its 90 to 120 members are undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff members, and singers from the Hyde Park and University community. The result is a wonderfully diverse group of vocalists who collaborate in performances of great monuments of the literature and also explore diverse world music traditions.
Rockefeller Chapel Choir
James Kallembach, director
The Rockefeller Chapel Choir and its professional artists-in-residence sing at Sunday services and quarterly evening concerts or evensongs. Major concert works have recently included the Rachmaninov Vespers, Schafer's Medieval Bestiary, and the Bach B Minor Mass with players from the Haymarket Opera Orchestra. An active commissioning program ensures the inclusion of new works by UChicago and international composers, both established and emerging.
