UChicago Arts & Humanities Day has partnered with Chicago Humanities to expand the roster of its speakers. In addition to lectures by UChicago faculty, which will remain free and open to all, this year's Arts & Humanities Day will feature a broad array of visiting writers, artists, actors, and public intellectuals who will be in dialogue with UChicago faculty whose research and teaching engages their work.
Inaugurated in 2014 with a gift from Randy and Melvin Berlin, the Berlin Family Lectures brings to campus leading scholars, writers, and creative artists from around the world. Each academic year, the visitor delivers an extended series of lectures, participates in the university’s intellectual community, and develops a book for publication with the University of Chicago Press.
This ongoing event series spotlights leading voices from the University of Chicago’s Division of the Arts & Humanities. Each session features esteemed faculty members and/or prominent scholars engaging in dynamic conversations with Deborah Nelson, Dean of the Division of the Arts & Humanities.
International Students
International students are vital contributors to the research conducted within our programs in the Arts & Humanities. From 2017 to 2021 an average of 36% of incoming Ph.D. students in the Arts & Humanities have come from outside of the United States. Financial Aid
The availability of aid to master’s degree candidates varies widely, with many programs offering some partial- to full-tuition merit awards, a few offering need‐based aid, and some programs offering little or no institutional aid.
