Ellen MacKay is Associate Professor in the Department of English Language and Literature and the College and a leading scholar of theatre theory and performance studies, with particular attention to early modern English theatre. As the interim deputy dean in the Division of the Arts & Humanities and senior advisor to the provost for the arts, Ellen serves as the primary faculty advisor for arts across the University, advancing their eminence and impact regionally, nationally, and globally. In this role, she works closely with UChicago Arts programs and a broad range of faculty artists and scholars to help support their research, teaching, and community engagement.
