Catriona MacLeod is the Frank Curtis Springer and Gertrude Melcher Springer Professor in the Department of Germanic Studies and the College. She is a leading scholar of German eighteenth- and nineteenth-century literature, aesthetics, and the visual arts. As deputy dean in the Division of the Arts & Humanities and senior advisor to the provost for the arts, MacLeod serves as the primary faculty advisor for the arts across the university, advancing their eminence and impact regionally, nationally, and globally. In this role, she works closely with UChicago Arts programs, provides oversight to leadership, and collaborates closely with colleagues around the university on various initiatives.
